Shopify mobile app development
Shopify runs the shop well. What it does not give you is a place on your customer's home screen, or a way to reach them that does not cost per message.
What an app changes for a Shopify store
The honest answer is that an app does nothing for first-time buyers. It earns its money with people who order from you repeatedly: a reorder in two taps instead of a login and a search, and a push notification that costs nothing to send.
If most of your revenue is one-off purchases from strangers, an app is the wrong spend and we will say so on the first call.
- Built on the Shopify Storefront API, so the catalogue and checkout stay in Shopify
- Push notifications sent from your own account, not rented per message
- Customer accounts, order history and repeat ordering
Built in Flutter, one codebase for both stores
One codebase produces the Android and the iOS app, which halves the build and the maintenance. The alternative, two native codebases, is worth it only for apps doing something unusual with the hardware.
We have shipped this stack for ordering apps running in real warehouses and takeaways, on cheap Android tablets as well as phones.
What it costs and what you own
Fixed price against a written scope, agreed before anything is built. The repository is yours, the apps go out under your own Apple and Google developer accounts, and the Shopify store stays entirely under your control.
Questions people ask before starting
Does the app replace my Shopify store?+
No. The store stays exactly as it is. The app reads the same catalogue through the Storefront API and checkout still runs through Shopify, so payments, taxes and shipping rules are unchanged.
Why not use one of the Shopify app builders?+
If a template app fits what you need, use one, it is cheaper. A custom build is worth it when you need something the builders do not do, such as trade pricing, account ordering, an in-house delivery flow, or a tie-in to a POS.
Who publishes the app to the App Store and Play Store?+
We do the submission, but under your developer accounts, so the listing and the app belong to you and you can move to another developer without losing them.
How long does it take?+
A straightforward store app is usually a few weeks. You get builds to use on your own phone early, not just at the end.
